A Hidden Gem of the Peloponnese

Barla Beach stands out from all the others in the area thanks to its unique geological blend of sandy and rocky shores with cave-like cliffs. The scenery is striking—rocks drop directly onto the sandy coast, creating a one-of-a-kind landscape, especially at sunset.

The cave located right next to the beach is perfect for those seeking solitude and peace, away from the summer crowds typical of Greek beaches.

How to Get There

Barla Beach is very close to a small settlement of the same name, home to about 50 residents, mainly vacation homes. Just a short distance from the beach are Marathos and Gargalianoi (4 km and 5 km away, respectively), which offer various tourist accommodations and tavernas with great food.

It’s worth noting that to reach Barla, you’ll need to take a right turn at the 3rd kilometer of the Marathos-Pylos route and head toward the beach—one that locals try to keep a well-guarded secret.

So, if you don’t get lost along the way, you’ll be rewarded with a beach whose beauty is rarely found elsewhere in the country.
